Another beauty of the southwestern Majorca is S’Arraco, a quiet, but residential town near to Andratx in the southwest. Located in a wonderful valley, between mountains and forests, S’Arraco is a small village in the southwestern part of Mallorca.

It’s a perfect destination if you are looking for the quietness and calmness of some repose moments. It consists mainly of traditional properties and retains the rustic charm of Majorca. In his vicinity you can find Taramuntana mountain, whoch is also an important component of its rebellious history, despite of the apparent calmness.

S’Arraco comes from the Arabic word ar.raconwhich means the corner. Warring Majorcan families were called “Arraconers” and played an important part in the bloody history if the area. Among the fights that took place here, a big fight for independence from the Andratx region took place. Of course, there were also attacks from pirates based on the Dragonera island, including the famous Barbarossa.

Moreover, in S’Arrco you will find a massive French influence, as many Arraconers left the area for Framce and later returned. Today S’Arraco is much quieter than its history, being one of the most beautiful places to be visited if you are around, because of its history and its unique transformation.
