Serra de Tramuntana has a lot of secrets to reveal. We are all sure that not even the locals know everything that would be to know about it. For the moment, we will try to reveal for you some secrets that we have already discovered.
Orient is a coquettish town, of twenty-something households, that is worth discovering. Mallorca is full of special corners in which you will enjoy a wonderful environment, where nature surrounds us in its pure state.
That’s why today we’re going to tell you about this special place. Today’s town is located in the heart of the Serra de Tramontana with a name of exotic reminiscences that arouses our curiosity.
What’s Orient about?
The town of Orient is discreet, quiet, away from the great tourist routes of the island. It is a charming place located between the Sierra de Alfabia and the Puig de Alaró, for those of you who are familiar with the island.
Moreover, this area is accessed through a road that starts from Buñola, which is the municipality to which this village belongs. In fact, it is one of those small rural paradises located just half an hour from the center of Palma.
Why is it worth visiting?
The beauty of its traditional architecture, with buildings built with sandstone and lime, make it the perfect refuge to relax when you want to disconnect from the stress of the capital, enjoying the tranquility of its cobblestone streets.
The less than 30 houses are distributed along the hillside on which the foothill is developed, whose highlight is the Church of San Jordi, an eighteenth century construction which was erected on a medieval oratory of the thirteenth century.
Next to the Church, located in a charming square, we have the old Escola, now closed. Nevertheless, it is an example of how this town was in the past. Without a doubt, a place full of peace where you can take beautiful walks.
