I love summer vibes and the seaside, so I thought that today to be about a wonderful virgin beach dedicated to people who loves the loneliness in an isolated paradise, were you can relax and listen only the murmur of the waves. At Son Serra de Marina in the northern part of the island, a few kilometres south-east of Alcudia lies one of the last remaining natural beaches on Mallorca. The beach is 450 metres long and is very deep, at 130 metres and is framed by natural vegetation. Completely natural and off the beaten track of mass tourism, it offers a genuine alternative to the typical holiday beaches of Mallorca, which can become very full, especially in the peak season. There aren’t any sun loungers to hire here, in fact the only service you’ll find are showers.

The major attraction in Son Serra de Marina is the amazing coastline which stretches all the way from Alcudia to the peninsular of Cap Farrutx. This large body of water is subject to rougher waters than most of Mallorca and so is a magnet for those in search of excitement. There are neither umbrellas to cover you, hotels, luxury restaurants, nor any other development. There’s just a bar, which is within sight of the beach and sells delicious cocktails, drinks and snacks.

Son Serra de Marina does not have a wide choice of places to eat but the laid-back ‘El Sol’ bar by the beach ranks as one of my favourite hidden restaurants. For those who loves the adventure, exciting adventures sports such as surfing, windsurfing, hang gliding and kite surfing are all popular here. You can also find horse-riding, canyoning, caving, canoeing and scuba diving. This part of the coastline is not protected by the bay and the winds can really pick up, making it perfect for wind surfing and kite surfing. In a few words, Son Serra de Marina is one of the most beautiful virgin beaches in Mallorca. Lovers of adventure and fun can participate during the last week in July and the first week in August on a 10-day fiesta with many sporting events, lively music and other celebrations. Son Serra de Marina is a perfect choice for a holiday home for sports enthusiasts or nature-lovers. This is another place to visit if you like a bit of sun, a natural beach and a must if you like to swim with fish around you.
