Porto Cristo is a small town on the eastern coast of Mallorca with an enchanting harbour which pulls the crowds by day, probably due to the close proximity of the Caves of Drac, one of the Island’s most popular attractions. ๐Ÿ™‚ But as the sun sets, the place reverts to a quiet, family resort where you can relax. The locations that never sleep and where the main action takes place is in the town’s restaurants along the quayside, where the perfume of the balmy nights blends with the aromas of fresh herbs cooking and scenting the catch of the day. ๐Ÿ˜€ So, if you are in Porto Cristo and you’re looking for a quality dining experience, then look no further than Sa Sal Restaurant situated inland. ๐Ÿ™‚

I recommend you this fabulous place from the bottom of my heart! ๐Ÿ˜€ Set in a traditional Mallorcan house, this German owned and run restaurant is located between two side streets, Carrer de la Tramuntana and it’s rear entrance through the garden on the neighbouring street.

The chef and patron is Mario Stephan Hekke, who presents a varied Mediterranean menu with international influences using fresh local seasonal ingredients. Showcasing an ร  la carte menu alongside a tasting menu, the dishes are artfully displayed. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here you have some tasty examples that you can eat: curtain raiser order veal tartar served with onion bread or braised beef cheek with celery cream and vegetables. Fish also gets a good airing with pan-fried hake, potato salad, dried tomatoes, black olive, tomato foam or the seafood pot catch of the day with Beluga lentils and mange tout.

And for dessert, you can “close the show” with a refreshing fruit plate or maybe with the vanilla parfait with red fruit jellies. Also, Mario has an extensive wine list to accompany the food that you order and there are good offers if you would like to buy a bottle to take home. ๐Ÿ˜‰ When it comes to its design, the traditional interiors feature wooden beams on the ceiling, beautifully decorated flooring tiles, walls decorated with interesting artwork and fashionable urban lighting over tables laid with crisp linen will make you feel far away from the real world.

You’ll see what I mean only if you go there. ๐Ÿ™‚ In the winter period there is a cosy log-burning fire and in summer the candle-lit garden is a lovely and romantic place to dine. So regardless of the season you choose to go on vacation, your experience will be phenomenal and also the dishes. ๐Ÿ™‚
