Mallorca, the island where you can enjoy great landscapes and life in general does a fantastic job of creating what is known as “peasant food”. Eating out in Mallorca can be a real treat, with an increasing emphasis on local cuisine, local produce and good cooking. But what would you say about all of these mentioned above, with its own water swimming pool carved into the rocks? Amazing, right? And is real, believe me! Es Guix is one of those places where once you arrive, you feel like you’ve just made a wonderful discovery! This hidden gem is located in the middle of the mountains on the road connecting Pollença and Soller. Even though is isolated, this location attracts people from all over the world who have all heard of its reputation.

The restaurant is famous not only for the location and natural beauty but also for the pool built into the rocks and as well for the suckling pig! Is delicious by the way!!! Surrounded by a wild and verdant garden and 100-year-old trees, the restaurant is housed in an old hunting lodge; the surroundings are unbelievably beautiful and just a few steps down, as I mentioned above is a lovely pool – hewn out of the rocky cliffs and fed by mountain springwater. Is a unique place!

When it comes to food, Es Guix serves lunch only (till 4 PM) and despite its seemingly remote location, its terrace is usually overflowing with gourmands. This should, of course, come as no surprise because the menu at Es Guix is incredibly copious and everything on it is prepared in the tradition of only the best restaurants. The cod is fantastic, as are the dishes featuring baby goat; the salads and choice of wines are also superb.

Here you’ll find traditional Mallorcian mountain food, fresh grilled fish or what many say, the best suckling pig on the island. Some even describes it as paradise! So, if you want to visit, you must know that this place it’s not far from a once-notable destination for pilgrimages, the monastery at Lluc, which has now become a popular tourist attraction. More exactly, Es Guix it lies about 100 m down a local road that branches off from the main highway. Is a must visit place which you will love it!
