Mallorca is an island in the Mediterranean Sea that has a superb climate all year round. The coast is made up of gorgeous white sandy beaches, coves with turquoise water and cliffs dotted with leafy pine trees. Sounds amazing, right? A bright blue sky covers the idyllic landscape making it easy to connect with the Mediterranean’s energy. Here you can discover charming villages and paved streets which conserve the essence and traditions of the island. Mallorca is much more than a sun and beach destination; is a picture-perfect island rich in culture that invites one to explore every single square inch. So if you’re planning a trip, here’s my edit of the island’s best spots to add to your holiday list from the subterranean Lake Martel to the hillside town of Valldemossa. It doesn’t get much more magical than a boat tour of Lake Martel’s stalactite and stalagmite-filled caves while a quartet serenades you with classical music. All that’s left for you to do is gaze in wonder at the 10 million year old caves and one of the largest subterranean lake in the world.

Another prime location is the pretty Port de Soller – a delightful little village situated on Mallorca’s harbour. Surrounded by the Tramuntana Mountains, this is a good spot to enjoy the calm and shallow beaches. Besides the weekly market held inland in Soller, one will find a quite a few al fresco restaurants and touristic shops on the beach. The warm, sheltered bay is good for swimming, yachting and luxury cruising. In fact, is the starting point for many boat trips that travel to Sa Calobra.

The views of the bay, the town and surrounding mountains are lovely. When it comes to the seaside, Sa Calobra is a stunning set of two beaches tucked in among steep rocky cliffs and divided by the Torrent de Pareis (river gorge), on the northwest coast of the island. Mallorca is a land of wonderful beaches. Around 38 kilometres away from Sóller, this is an excellent choice for a family holiday and the best place to explore the northwest coast of Mallorca. This is a place for beach lovers!

Therefore, I will end this article with the amazing Valldemossa as I promised – a sleepy town surrounded by the forest-covered hills of the Tramuntana range and vast expanses of countryside; a great spot for hiking. Is a must see place for sure!

And don’t leave without trying one of the local delicacies from the traditional family bakeries – coca de patata is a sweet cake made with boiled potatoes and served with a mug of hot chocolate. You will love it!
