A wonderful, unique, botanical garden

Botanicactus is a botanical garden in Mallorca and is located in the south of the island near the town of Ses Salines. It comprises 50,000 sq m. of tropical vegetation and has an artificial lake of 10,000 sq m. There are over 400 species of plants and 10,000 species of cacti and the collection of Mallorcan flora is 25,000 sq m in size with olive, pomegranate, almond, pine, cypress, orange, carob and eucalyptus trees.

Started in the 1980s, the Ses Salines area was chosen for the garden as it has the least rainfall of anywhere on the island. Wandering around, it’s easy to forget that you are in Mallorca, feeling more akin of being in some strange desert or on a film set. The size and magnificence of the larger cacti (and the sheer abundance of them) is astounding and the gardens is well worth a visit if you’re in the area. Botanicactus is the paradise for nature lovers.

Specially beautiful and worth to mention again is the flora of Mallorca that is here also represented: olive , almond and pomegranate-trees, little orange, eucalyptus and carob-trees, pines and cypresses.
