With a picturesque setting adjacent to both mountains and sea, Bendinat is a small residential suburb of Portal Nous and is part of the larger municipal district of Calvia on the south west coast of Mallorca. The distance between the village and the capital city of Palma is minimal at just under 10 km. Bendinat is located in a privileged area of the Mallorcan coast and has a beautiful landscape thanks to the adjacent Serra de Tramuntana mountains. On the other hand is very close to Palma Nova, Magaluf and the upmarket Puerto Portals which makes it a very attractive place to be.

Historically, the area is notable as the place where King James camped in 1229 after a bloody battle against the Moors. There is also a story relating to the origin of its name where the King said ‘Ben dinat’, meaning ‘well dined’ in Catalan after enjoying a meal in a tent here. Moving from history to fun, there are a number of exciting things to do in Bendinat: from historical places to cultural attractions, entertainment activities and locations were you can eat and drink.

This place it represents one of the most exclusive areas of the island along with Son Vida, Santa Ponsa and Puerto de Andratx. One of the most attractive and unique features of Bendinat is, although it seems surprising, the lack of tourist attractions in this town. In what sense? Well, this locality is a paradise of luxury, tranquility and isolation with the huge advantage that is located very close to several holiday resorts and the cosmopolitan capital of Mallorca.

This is what makes Bendinat the perfect destination for families or couples in search of peace and tranquility. The major attraction in Bendinat is its small cove surrounded by spectacular pines easily accessed from the residential area. Cala Bendinat is a small beach at just 50m with 20m length that can provide the perfect little escape for beach lovers looking for some peace and quiet. Therefore, if you are looking for tranquility, this cove is the ideal getaway for you.

When it comes to activities, Bendinat is very famous for its incredible golf course named Real Golf Bendinat- an 18-hole course set in a picturesque valley full of greenery. In fact, it is one of the best golf courses on the island and has incredible panorama of its surroundings. For the food lovers, here you will find restaurants that offer spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea, a scenario that you certainly cannot miss along with their tasty, traditional foods. One of the most highly rated restaurants in Bendinat is the La Terrazas de Bendinat. A beautiful terrace that looks directly over the Mediterranean Sea providing a perfect backdrop matched only by the quality of the food and service you will receive. Another popular dining expereicne is Es Romani at the Lindner Hotel – offering a lively jazz Sunday brunch, sushi on thursday and many more events.

The pool side bar and restaurant is a relaxing choice to enjoy a great salad or a fresh fish. In this locality you will find the Hotel Bendinat, a facility that promises its guests a luxurious experience in an extravagant location. The hotel has its own private beach, which is ideal for snorkeling and swimming in the waters of the Mediterranean. On the other hand, if you are a golf lover, you will love to know that the hotel also offers varied golf packages for golfers who come to spend a quiet and serene vacation here. However, if total relaxation is all you desire, then the Bendinat area of the island is blessed with a lot of things to do and see, which could make your vacation unforgettable.
