In the south of the island, at about 15 minutes from Palma, in the Algaida municipality is the village of Pina. This place is a beautiful old countryside with a beautiful history, where the typical lifestyle and culture of Mallorca meets. More exactly, Pina is a small town and was named after Fernando Pina, due to his involvement in the conquest of Valencia. Its main attractions include the Parrish Church, Sa Creu, the Convent, the Well and the Pina valley.

If you’re a history person, you must also know that the church of Pina was built in 1856 and is the only one in Mallorca that has frescos all over its walls. Also, there are plenty of archaeological remains and ruins from the Islamic era. Besides its amazing historical monuments, there are a lot to see and do. The village centre is around the main plaza with all the conveniences necessary, such as bank, restaurant, bars and bakery. When it comes to the place where you can eat the best food ever, the well beloved restaurant Es Moli de Pina is located in an old windmill, decorated rustically and servers typical Spanish food.

You will love it! Here you’ll find unique history attractions, good restaurants and houses with original architecture, making it an ideal location to explore the rural Mallorca. Talking about that, from here, in 15 minutes you’re at the coast where you can choose from several sand beaches like the one in Palma or you can go all the way along to the south coast until you reach Sa Rapita. From there it takes 30 min. back to Pina.

In Algaida, the next village only a few minutes away they have a weekly market which is on Fridays. If you’re searching for some activities, as you already know, Mallorca has many golf courses – the closest are Son Gual Golf and Golf Park Puntiro. They also have a horse ranch. Amazing, right? Pina is very beloved by cyclists and hikers, thanks to the excellent paths and tracks in the surroundings. So, if you’re a enthusiastic of this kind of sports, then this is the perfect place for you! For a memorable stay, here you’ll find an old restored finca with garden and pool where you enjoy the quiet and peaceful feeling of the surrounding nature. In this village you’ll have an awesome vacation, believe me!
