A magic place tucked between rocky headlands

The resort of Cala Mayor(also written locally in Catalan as “Cala Major”) is a residential suburb of the City of Palma and is situated along the southern coast of Mallorca at the bottom of a hillside along to the Cala Mayor bay (a sweeping bay of golden sands tucked between rocky headlands, typical of many beach resorts in Mallorca) and approximately 20km, or 12 miles to the west of the Son Sant Joan International airport.

The resort has many awesome hotels and offers a wealth of choices for eating, drinking and shopping. Actually, Cala Mayor boasts one of Mallorca’s superior hotels that was first opened in 1957, named in the honour of Austrian Archduke Luis Salvador who landed in Palma in 187 mooring his boat, the Nixe in Cala Mayor Bay for many years. When it comes to food, there are plenty of good cafes and bars for refreshments and lots of dining options, seafood being very predominant.

This lovely sandy spot is great for families and has excellent facilities surrounding it. Its lovely beach is a little more than 200 metres long, up to 80 metres wide and is mainly surrounded by hotels, some high palm trees and the beautiful landscape over the sea.
