Last summer , I enjoyed three magical weeks of waking up in this beautiful place named Valldemossa , admiring the splendid sunrise , spending the day in a beautiful exotic environment and going to bed after a delicious spanish meal and a warm sunset . Valldemossa is one of the island’s most eye-catching sights .

In a picturesque setting between the Tramuntana Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea , the historic village of Valldemossa is filled with a peculiar charm . The mountainous area is coated with luxuriant vegetation and the slopes lead down to beaches and coves . Valldemossa is surrounded by the forest-covered hills of the Tramuntana range and vast expanses of countryside , making it a great spot for hiking .

Is a quiet and traditional town with narrow streets and lanes constructed with blonde stone , as are the houses . Each doorway and street is lined with beautiful green plants and flowers making the town one of the most beautiful in Mallorca .

The village itself is full of charming little streets filled with cafes , galleries and gift shops . Traditional family bakeries can still be found in Valldemossa and serve up the local delight of ‘coca de patata’ translated to ‘potato cake’. So , don’t leave without trying one of the local delicacies from the traditional family bakeries – potato cake is a sweet cake made with boiled potatoes and served with a mug of hot chocolate .

Valldemossa is almost two kilometres away from the coast and there are a couple of options for a quiet , secluded beach visit at a short distance from town .

If you want to spend a little time in a magical place instead of turning right toward Deià , follow the sign towards Andratx . After one kilometre, down on the road you’ll see a small sign for Port de Valldemossa . The narrow, twisted road continues for 6 km until you reach the harbour area with its pebble beach , Cala Sa Marina .  The beach is very nice , the water – fantastic , crystal clear and warm .

This is definitely a place where you can spend the day on the beach , take a short siesta and get ready to party in the evening . This is the perfect paradise – leave the stress of your everyday life behind and find a part of Valldemossa for yourself and revel in its manifold beauty .
