With 262 beaches around the island , Mallorca is a paradise for the sun , sand and the sea lover . So , as long as you fit perfectly into these three categories , let me begin telling you that wherever you choose to go in Mallorca , you will find everything you were looking for – from large beaches with every facility for a fun family day to hidden coves where you may share the sands with only a few people , or nobody . How I’ve promised you in my last article , today I will write about my second favourite place , so you don’t miss out on anything if you’ll ever go on this magic place .

Today it will be about Santa Ponsa , a small town in the south-west of Mallorca that is too good not to share with you , so sit back and enjoy my little impromptu guide about this amazing resort and its beaches .

At first glance , Santa Ponsa or Santa Ponça  appears to be more than a resort for a traditional family beach holiday –  it hides a wealth of natural and historical features and plays host to some of the most luxurious properties in Mallorca .

Santa Ponsa is a great holiday destination with a perfect and relaxing atmosphere . There are numerous things to do there for tourists but the most popular activity in Santa Ponsa is lazing on the beach or eating out at one of the many bars and restaurants . Just joking ! Because of its access to the motorway and the nearby Tramuntana mountain range , Santa Ponsa makes an ideal base for hikers and bikers .

Nature lovers can feed the wild flock of parakeets located in the small wood by the big beach or watching the ducks wandering the town . If you are interested in archaeology the Sa Morisca nature park it worths as well a visit . When it comes to food , you have to know that Santa Ponsa has a very international atmosphere with a mix of British , German , Spanish , Italian and Asian bars and restaurants . For a more haute cuisine experience a visit to ” Las Adelfas  Restaurant ” in Nova Santa Ponsa is highly recommended. Speaking of the most popular activity on a island , the main attraction of Santa Ponsa itself is the ” big beach ” around which most of the town is centred .

Protected by lifeguards and dotted with popular watersports, this beach is ideal for families because is shallow , sandy and sweeps across the entire width of the bay . Sailing, surfing, scuba and jet skiing are all within easy reach and there are also a purpose-built play areas for children .

Santa Ponsa beaches are great but the most sought are  Santa Ponsa Beach (main beach – Playa de Santa Ponsa) , Pellicer Beach (also known as Little Beach – Playa d’en Pellicer) and Castellot Beach (Playa des Castellot) .

The Santa Ponsa beach has been awarded by the Blue Flag which means it adheres to the most strict rules and standards. From what I’ve heard, it was also been awarded by the prestigious “Q” for European Quality .

The island of Mallorca is blessed with a wide variety of types of beach and here , in this little corner of heaven you’ll live your life adventures .
