Being in the summer season, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t think about vacation, relaxation or a travel in a peaceful place. As you already know, my favorite place in this world is the splendid island of Mallorca and I would not give up to travel here for anything.  I write about it with love because traveling here was probably the best thing in my life and that’s why I always say that it’s my second home. This article is dedicated to those who want an unforgettable vacation in a magic corner of heaven. The peace, the beauty and the warmth that you are welcomed by the people are just a few words to describe how amazing can be a vacation here. In a beautiful valley in the southwest corner of Mallorca you will find the charming village of S’arraco.

The name “S’Arraco” comes from the Arabic word “ar.racon” which means ‘the corner’. This charming place is a small, dreamy village located in a valley between Puerto Andratx and San Telmo. The traditional Mallorcan village has approx. 700 residents who live in town houses, some of them historical, in the centre of the village and some in small fincas spread across the whole valley. Between its traditional town houses, some of them are renovated with great taste keeping the original colors, as well you will find fincas with large gardens located in very tranquil surroundings that meanwhile have become very popular holiday spots for individual tourists.

This locality began functioning as an urban nucleus thanks to the existence of some country estates such as that of Son Joan. The village is still very original and seems far removed from any sort of tourism, one of the reasons it became a magnet to a significant number of artists. Leaving the history, here you’ll have an unforgettable holiday. A great reason to travel here is the beautiful valleys and coastal landscapes in the immediate area.

When it comes to food, fun and unique moments, the main street of S’Arracó hosts three restaurants, a tapas bar, a popular bar and meeting place, a bank and a general store. The major attraction on this location is the fascinating feature of the village church with its striking clock. It strikes the hour with five minutes before time to give the villagers an opportunity to concentrate on the number of chimes to follow – on the precise hour.

There are many things to do also in the surrounding areas which are particularly popular for hiking, biking and scuba. The Tramuntana mountain range and Galatzo Reserve nature park are also within striking distance. In August, each year, there are parties time during which this sleepy little village with its small cluster of shops and restaurants is transformed in the best summer ever. When local festivities take place and music fills the streets the village of S’arraco, it turns into an amazing place. The festivities are celebrated on the 28th of August, the day of Saint Agustin. The celebrations usually continue until the 8th of September when the festivity of the Virgen de la Trapa is celebrated by the inhabitants and believers by going up the mountain. Every day here is a blessing, from its beautiful landscapes to their unique tradicions. The only way to find out, feel and enjoy it, is to travel here!
