Some years ago somebody told me that if I want to enjoy a top experience holiday, the Mediterranean island of Mallorca is the perfect choice. Recounting his experiences and feelings lived there, it made me want to see what is so special about this island. So, at the beginning of that year I proposed to myself to reach some goals. More specifically, I wanted to take more care of my needs, to pamper myself more often and the most important, to travel at least once a year in a place where I have not been or I love. Starting with that day I’ve demonstrated to me once again that anything can happen if you really want and that we are exactly what we think! How you all know, in conclusion my adventure began with Mallorca and I was very happy that the wish I had was finally fulfilled. Therefore, today it will be about one of the places I visited at the beginning which captivated me and that made me come back over and over again. High on a ridge surrounded by old stone windmills, the village of Montuiri is probably the most impressive sight along the Palma-Manacor road.

Amidst of the extensive grassy and hilly landscape which extends off the coasts in the heart of the Balearic island Mallorca, lies this pretty place on a gentle hill. For a lot of people and also for me, Montuiri is known for its traditional and typical Mediterranean life which makes up this place a fascinating spot. The village is therefore the epitome of a calm, harmonious way of life combining all the comforts of a Mediterranean residence. Having a strong agricultural tradition, every person who will come here will find high-quality products such as sea-salt, honey and olive oil.

In this place I found also fresh local produces plus some very good Mallorcan wines. Keeping its perfect charm over the years, walking around this pretty village you will see different examples of architecture going back to mediaeval times and also see grander mansions which are a testament to the wealthy residents of the past as this was once a popular town for money lenders. Being a small village, Montuiri is worth to be crossed on foot for giving more time to relax yourself around the beautiful buildings while you can stop in one of their pretty shops and cafes. When it comes to activities, a game in the best golf courses in Mallorca or a wine tasting at their many excellent vineyards in the neighboring regions will be an excellent choice.

There are many traditional Mallorcan restaurants and cafes to choose from within the town and a good example because is my favourite is Puig de Sant Miquel with the best and the most tasty food ever. If you’ll be planning to travel in Mallorca in August, you have to know that Montuiri celebrates their traditional Spanish fiestas. The most special event where I have attended it was in mid-August on the the Feast of Sant Bartholomew. Here you’ll discover as I did Cossiers accompanied by dancers with bagpipes, flutes and drums, dressed as women and devils performing its specific dance – the origins that stretches back at least 400 years where evil is overcome by good. Montuiri is one of the most recommendable locations in the central of Mallorca because here you can taste both rural and urban life, the center of Palma being very close.
