Christmas in Mallorca it really is a wonderful time of the year. The weather has a spring air, it’s cold enough to need a coat but not so bad that you don’t want to be outside enjoying the island. ๐Ÿ™‚ On the contrary! ๐Ÿ˜€ Here, you can sample the traditional cuisine, stroll through the Christmas markets and visit the nativity scenes from the center of the island that year after year amazes all the people who visit them, at a temperature as lovely as this place. The festive lights and the decorations adorning streets and squares, is an invitation for you to wander the center after the sun has gone down. How I promissed in my last article, today I will tell you about how and from where starts the true spirit of Christmas. ๐Ÿ˜€ Well, the perfect scene begin at the Cathedral with a lot of spectacular things to see.

Is a must for everyone who tends to travel in Mallorca to experience the unique ambience with the most popular Matines that are held at the Palma Cathedral – pious hymns and chants, a great start to discover the true spirit of this holiday at the traditional midnight mass. This event, the Christmas celebration, begin with this mass at around 11pm with a sermon and chanting of La Sibil La, a song which dates back to the 10th century and is sung by a little child dressed in medieval tunic. It will definitely be something unforgettable for each of you. ๐Ÿ™‚ Is true that is the most magical night of the year but what makes this place more special is their traditions. After the Mass, the families gather to enjoy a hot chocolate accompanied by ensaimada or coca de patata.

Everything is wonderful, you’ll see! We all know that the Christmas is to renew strength, relax and celebrate with family and friends. So, whether you want to spend a quiet and relaxing holiday or get caught up in the spirit of the celebrations, the island offers you a wide range of places and activities.

You also must know that the Christmas lights in Palma are turned on in late November, kicking off these special festive days. ๐Ÿ™‚ And from the beginning of December you can visit some spectacular nativity scenes in churches ( in special the well known Palma cathedral), town halls or shopping centres and also walk around the traditional Christmas markets where you can buy figurines for nativity scenes, Mallorcan crafts and/or pastries from the convents and monasteries of the island for your friends. The holidays in Mallorca are about spending time with family and friends, traditions which recognise the spiritual meaning of the event and plenty of fun and pleasure. ๐Ÿ™‚
