There are not many things to do in this period in Mallorca and while on the island is not snowing, you can always enjoy a picnic in a unique spot, far away from the agitation of the city on the verge of the winter holidays. 🙂 And which place is better than Port des Canonge? 😀 Situated on the west coast, Port des Canonge is an isolated former fishing village which is home to a fantastic beach and the start of a couple of highly enjoyable coastal walks (including a superb hike along the Cami de Sa Volta des General to Banyalbufar).

😀 More exactly, this delightful coastal spot in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range is a work of art created by the mother nature covered with Neptune grass, lined at the back with the fishermen’s boats. 🙂 And even if you’re not in mood for a picnic, this place remains a must see due to its couple of great places to eat. 😀 Such as Can Toni Moreno for instance, which is always crowded around lunchtime, particularly on Sundays, when Mallorcans use to meet at a restaurant that’s been part of their family tradition for ages. Can Toni is only a stone throw away from the beach so you really taste the ocean on your plate, whether you take a grilled fish (always my first choice :D) or go for one of the mouth-watering paellas. 🙂 There are several variations on the menu and besides that, if you are lucky, you’ll find a table outside on the canopied patio. 😉

The walk only takes slightly more than an hour but it has some great vista points. So, is worth it! 😀 All along, the aromatic scent of pine trees mingles with the salty air and for me, is the meaning of the very essence of the Mediterranean. It’s like a perfume that brings back memories of endless summer holidays and the feeling of being free and open for new adventures. 🙂
