If you appreciate a good glass of wine and you are interested to learn more about Mallorca’s wines, then it will come as a surprise to learn that the town plays the host to the islands biggest wine fair and there is an event you can’t miss if you are staying on holiday in Puerto Pollensa resort: the wine festival in May – 2017.

For an exciting weekend of wine tasting in a great setting surrounded by wine buffs and some of the island’s top wine makers, visit the Pollensa Wine Fair at the Cloisters of Santo Domingo. The event kicks off at 10.00 on Saturday 6th of May and runs through until 14.00 on Sunday 7th of May. The Pollensa Wine Fair takes place every year in spring at the Santo Domingo Cloister .

It’s the largest wine event where many local wineries presents their products to the general public. The goal is to promote the local wines , both to the public and professionals. Is a selection of excellent wines in an atmospheric setting. The wine fair is both popular and well visited because of Mallorca’s unique microclimate.

How the weather affects the varying terrain in different ways from costal areas to high mountain terraces and the flat land across the plains, a wide variety of grapes can be grown here producing a broad spectrum of fine wines, each with its unique character and flavour.

The recuperation of the wine industry is not solely due to the fruits produced from heart of the land but also from the heart of the Mallorcan people through hard work and their dedication to preserving their heritage.

It’s a great opportunity for the local wine producers – big, small, old and new – to show off their wares to both the pros and the public and as I said before, the colonnaded cloister is a beautiful, inspiring setting to sip a wine or two.

It is one of the largest wine event on the island with around 40 wine producers participating and approximately 4,000 enthusiasts enjoining the wine tasting opportunity. If you’re on holiday in Puerto Pollensa or you are staying nearby, this is a great chance to get a taste of viticulture and a fine way to spend the day in Pollensa.

This town itself is a fascinating place – is only 15 minutes away by regular bus services and is well worth a trip even when there isn’t something special like this happening. There is a modest entry fee opening doors to a great wine tasting event, a chance to exchange opinions and try the fruits of the Mallorcan earth. If you think that life is too short to drink a bad wine, this is definitely the place to be!
